Exersice # 2

Emirati women and workforce in a clash of culture

What is the conflict?
UAE government gave both man and women equal rights in workplace, but due to cultural impact, some of women admitted that they are not having their rights in terms of studying the fields they planned to or even choosing the place they like to work in, or some are prevented from work at all.

What is culture view behind the conflict?
The main idea behind woman workforce conflict is that some Emirati families are following a tradition that women should not mix or involved with men or working in the same environment. As this idea is against the norms and traditions and affect the woman reputation.

Who is involved?

The main impact of woman workforce clash is the man. It could be a father, a brother, or a husband who is taking final decision on behalf of the woman and deciding where she can works and where she cannot.
For example, Sara Humaid friend and Mariam, changed their study major just because their relatives disagree to let them work in a non-woman environment.

What is the best solution?
From my point of view, there is a contravention of the cultural conflict of woman work. As families are allowing woman to study for 5 years then they are simply preventing them from work or limiting their choices.
As Sheikha Eisa highlighted the solution to solve this problem is to encourage women to speak to their family members. I agree with her as all woman have the right to express their feeling about specific points and they can change the old idea of Emirati families which is working in a free of men environment. As woman is capable to work in place with dedication and motivation which reflecting on the development of country, society, and family as well.
So, let the decision to be with woman, whether she would like to join the workforce or not and let she take her chance. As for married woman, some men disagree to let their wife work, but if she can balance between house responsibilities and work demand then there is no harm to go and work.

My World View

actually my world view is dividing  on three things which are Honor and shame , power and fear, innocence and guilt. the most influence in my world view is honor and shame because its a necessary and  influence in our culture then the second influence is innocence and guilt because its one of the main effective in our world which I see it, finally the third of my world view are power and fear and its also can effect my world view but not like the others because  I did not saw  in our culture and applying from the government.

Exercise # 1

Bullfighting Bullfighting is a very famous cultural sport in countries like Spain, Italy and Mexico. Although thousands of people can't wait to attend this event, but from my point of view, I totally disagree about it. This is because it's very dangerous for both the bull and the bullfighter, as the bullfighter doesn't have the suitable body protection tool to prevent himself from serious injure or from death as the bull is very huge, strong and angry so it is prepared to attack the competitor and kill him if necessary. Besides, this cultural sport is crucial and against our humanity as it is encouraging to compete the bull and causing it bleeding or death. For me, I do like to experience others culture but if it is against my morals and ethics, for sure I will not try it. So, I will never share in running with the bulls or in watching a bullfighting. on
